Bonner Park City Band Concert

On Wednesday, July 1st, the students performed "This is My Country" at the weekly City Band concert at Bonner Park. The band concerts are a fixture of Missoula summers, and rain or shine (or, in last year's case, the mountain being on fire and helicopters dropping water overhead--seriously, I was there and have the pictures to prove it) the show must go on.

The City Band concerts have been occurring in Missoula for years. They are a completely voluntary organization comprised of musicians ranging from students in the 9th grade to adults well into their golden years. There are always a few chuckles to be had, and tonight there was homemade pie by the Sweet Adelines. Can't beat that. Quinessential Missoula.

Aren't the Next Step Prep shirts awesome?! They really stand out, and they look great on everyone.

Warm-ups with Greg...

Strong friendships growing...

Time to sing...

Time to play.

The woman being attacked by killer hugs from Trey and Wynston is Shelly Wills, mother of Eric, and heroic host to house four exuberant young men. I can only IMAGINE the breakfast conversations...

Bonner Park has a wonderful splash deck to cool off in the summer. The decks used to have wading pools with these huge concrete turtles. When the renovation of the park occurred, there was such an outcry to keep the turtles, that they were incorporated into the landscaping. So pull up a turtle and hang out with your new friends!

Sunset in Missoula is one of the most gorgeous things there is around. The mountain gets a beautiful yellow glow, and the trees seem almost phosphorescent. I love this image of Jadi, Liz and Eryk. You guys shine as much as the hills.

Another wonderful day.

Next post...puppets...and Maureen's discovery that the puppet in Nunsense, Sister Mary Annette, is actually a take-off from the word marionette....some days I'm a wee bit slow on the uptake.

The four musketeers make their way home ...
